ok - i'm goin to list some more_possible_candidates for my fave albums list. again, the following is in no particular order:
* jimi hendrix - 'electric ladyland' ... what can i say? the left-handed virtuoso could channel some rare & deep phenomena ? i wish he didn't die when he did ...
* neil young - 'harvest' would be an obvious choice and hard to go past, although other candidates may include 'comes a time' or possibly even 'after the goldrush'
* kiss - 'dynasty' ... nah, not really - just kidding (but i like the song 'hard times') ... i may be tempted to include 'double platinum' for those times when i am in the mood, but this list is about studio albums, not compilations
* talvin singh - 'ok' or 'ha' would probably each come close to making my list ...
* david bowie - 'the rise & fall of ziggy stardust & the spiders from mars' is an almost certain starter
alright? i'll leave it there for now and give it a bit more thought, and possibly editing ... the list is beginning to take some shape anyhow

Neil Young - I know that harvest is the one that people are "supposed" to like - I would have to say comes a time. Though having said that, after the gold rush is so very good as well.He has so many good things, that man. Off neither of these is his song "piece of crap" which has always cracked me up.haha.
I admire anyone who can actually make a top list of their fave albums, especially in order. It is a stupendously difficult task. You know that the second you've finished it you'll be having doubts. Just on the church, as you mentioned their inclusion, i'd find it hard to choose one. or two. I love every album but i just naturally move towards the later stuff because i find the production on the early choons sounds soooooo dated now. And thats not because i think the later songs are better. Seance has some of the best songs SK ever wrote on it but that sharp, clipped snare has left it almost unlistenable to me these days. Heyday, awesome at the time but with the exception of Columbus and perhaps Myrrh now sounds a little lightweight compared to the lush, textured offerings of later albums.
All I can say is good luck and glad its not me making the list !
again, for some reason i feel the need to chuck my two bob in...top 10's being one of my guilty pleasures:
* jimi hendrix - 'electric ladyland'...never got the hendrix thing. could play guitar well. good-o.
* neil young - 'harvest'...would have to be my choice. can't go past it. i would have liked to include 'american stars n bars' after lumping on a horse called 'stars n bars' because of it's name on the last race of the day once in brisbane to see it come in at 18/1. i would also advise you to check out the soundtrack he did to the movie 'dead man' if you get a chance.
* kiss - 'dynasty' ...'destroyer' would be my pick (but not go close to making my top 10 even though i LOVE kiss). i also really dig 'music from the elder' and 'unmasked' but we've had this conversation before...and anyway, every kiss album is like a compilation. how many albums can you put 'love gun' on?!
* talvin singh - 'ok' or 'ha'...not ever heard it. i know he won the mercury prize a few years ago. guy from cornershop is it? (ha ha - only joking)
* david bowie - 'the rise & fall of ziggy stardust & the spiders from mars'...great album. don't need me to acknowledge that fact
have heard the soundtrack to 'dead man' - and seen the film - more than once, and like them both quite a lot!
