i've been workin my way thru more of those albums of which i acquired copies from a friend, including:
- george harrison: 'all things'
- audioslave: self-titled & 'out of exile'
- decoder ring: 'somersault'
- st germain: 'boulevard'
- air: '10,000hz legend'

i've heard the latter two before, but enjoyed hearing them again. i mentioned previously that i'd being listening to early-ish pink floyd again recently ('meddle', etc.) and today i was listening to the chorus of 'how does it make u feel' on the aforementioned air album, and had a fleeting reminiscence of that kind of stuff. so there u go, eh?!

'somersault' is a nice, rather mellow soundtrack to the australian film of the same name which is worth watching & has interesting cinematography (in my opinion).

audioslave - been curious to hear one of their full albums for some time, comprising as they do (if i am not mistaken) members of soundgarden, pearl jam & rage against the machine. well, i haven't been disappointed really. 'out of exile' kind of hooked me more (or at least as much) on first listen last week than any other album has for some time - as far as i can presently recall, anyhow. having said this, i've only listened to it once or twice since - but more to come i'm sure ...

'all things' - a double cd (originally a triple album i believe?) given a big wrap by the inimitable steve kilbey on his own blog earlier this year (see link to 'the time being' on the right - to lazy to do the html link thing right now!), and i think it is indeed something of a masterpiece ... 'isn't it a pity' being one particular stand-out for mine after a couple of listens.

that's it for now peeps

You are spot on about "isn't it a pity" on george's all things must pass album. Yes, it was a triple - have it here. A good old record with all the lyrics on it. Even without the music the words of "isn't it a pity" would kill you . Another that I love from this record is "ballad of sir frankie crisp" and of course "all things must pass" itself(a line from it - "it's not always gonna be this grey" - is actually the signature on my email). The feelings that listening to it always conjured up seem magnified now that he's not around anymore. Put aside the fact that he was george "the beatle" it is worthwhile to keep in mind that he was only 27 when he put this music out. I mean to write the song "all things must pass" at that age -that's a perfect song. So sk had good things to say about the record, then? I didn't know that, but am not suprised. It's funny like that -generally there'll be a band you like and then down the track you'll read their influences and they're the same as your own. It's good to know that someone is listening to this record :).

Next day - postscript - imagine sk and co doing "beware of darkness" with mwp on vocals. That'd be good stuff.

yes the title track is good - definitely up there with 'isn't it a pity' in my books. actually i need to listen to the whole 2nd cd of it again.
yeah i'd like to hear sk/church do a few of those songs, preferably acoustic ... and a bit of sitar action thrown in too boot would not be a bad thing at all! i'm not always a huge fan of mwp vocals ... but his guitar playing is stellar, as is that of mr koppes! (i probably have a wee preference for pk actually ...)

When I say mwp - I mean on that particular song - his voice would suit it. I must say that george's voice was not his strength either - but he managed to impart feeling into it. He meant every word he sang on that record - you can feel it .I'm afraid that the ladies would disagree with you over the choice of peter over marty. That marty - I don't know what is it - charisma I guess. In bucket loads :) . (it's not hard to tell that i'm some kind of music freak).
