ok
here's the deal:
until further notice, this blog is going to be dedicated to music; with lee, keshi & myself (and maybe a few other [semi-]regular readers) in mind!!! so be it ...

this evening, since getting home from work, i have listened to the beatles albums 'let it be' & 'seargent peppers lonely hearts club band'. then the songs 'last nite' by the stroke & 'resolve' by the foo fighters, then the 'dynastsy' album [once again] by KISS, which was followed by the albums 'deliverance' by you am i [prompted by an instant messenger conversation with dan] and 'what was left' by clare bowditch & the feeding set.

i highly recommend all of the above songs & albums. and i was happy to see clare bowditch win the best female artist award at the aria awards a few weeks ago!

and - incidentally - i've made a very nice satay marinade [for chicken & tofu] tonight, for consumption by myself & my friends tomorrow!

lee - sgt pepper's - yes what a classic album. so many different factes or 'personalities' or moods expressed between one given song & another. "within you, without you" is still one of my favourites beatles tracks - obviously influenced by their (or george harrison's) dabbling in inidan mysticism/spirituality & the like. and i love sitar!

hi keshi - yes i've really only got into the foo fighters in earnest this year after getting copies of thier albums from a friend. proior to that i had liked most of thier singles but never heared the full albums. and i don't mind a bit of nirvana when in the mood - the band that is - i am always in the mood for the state of nirvana! ;-D one of my preferred nirvana songs is 'come as you are'

fergal, thanks to you -and winters too- I dug out let it be and abbey road as well for the first time in forever. But actually found myself skipping past let it be and the long and winding road because I just can't hear them again for a few years yet :).Without those two songs on it the let it be album would seem so "loose" and easy going. I know that paul always said that phil spector bastardised those songs with the big arrangements -I've never listened to that version of the album that was fixed to be how it was originally intended to be but perhaps will have to get around to it one of these days.Have you heard it, or know anyone who has? I would be curious to know if anyone thought it was worth buying.I guess it must be a few years ago now that it came out -the way that time flies.

i'm paraphrasing but the stones are my beatles and the replacements are my stones.

beatles do have some okay songs though...

lee - i can expand more later but i can kinda see what u mean re. that album with out those 2 songs. i think u r referring to the 'naked' or stripped back re-rlease of let it be which came out at least a coupla years ago and had the more 'raw' arrangements without all the additional production. i actually listened to that version beofre the other (over-produced?) one.

dan - i have never been a major beatles fan but this year, having got copies of thier albums of a mate, i am starting to appreciate their latter albums a bit. still - i have traditionally listened to the stones more.

lee - i'd have to listen to both again to make a final call on it - and my dad has the 'naked' version, not me! but put it this way - i think that listening to the 'naked' version first is a good way to go for people new to this album.
well - just off the top of my head: if i had to make a call right now, i'd go for the naked version ...
