when withdrawing money from auto teller machines (atms), have u every wondered why you have to stipulate the amount to be withdrawn, right down to the last cent; whereas the smallest denomination that atms dispatch (in australia, at least) is a $20 note?!?

is the process of hitting the '0' button that extra two times per transaction, perhaps a little existential?

re: having to specify to the cent: some machines don't require you to do this. But yes, it is a total redunancy.

Also: have you ever noticed when you're using a microwave, how much extra effort it takes to punch in "1.00" when you want to set something for a minute? How much easier would it be just to be able to specifiy 1 minute? I end up putting in 1.11, cause it's quicker than taking my finger off the button, looking for the zero, and then punching that twice. The extra 11 seconds heat applied to my food aren't as important to me as the time it takes to look for those two zeros.
