hi, thanx to all those of u who posted enthgusiastic comments & recommendations in response to my last post - i appreciate all these!
there is a lost of thinking going on here in fergal's head ... some nay things to weigh up ..... but overall i must say that the possible move to dublin is looking pretty good for a few reasons, and if i had to put odds on it at present i'd say there's a greater than 50% chance that we'll go! ;-D
there are still a number of details to figure out, particularly money & time - two titles of songs off the "dark side of the moon" album, by the way; and always pretty important commodities to consdier it seems (for better or worse).
like i said - one thing is for sure: i need a change, i need a change, i need a change .... and this opportunity just seems to be the one to go for. it would also be a BIG challenege in numerous ways - but i think this potential move seems to be right at this point in our lives - as right as it'll ever be, perhaps!
and anyhow - although there seem to be other POSSIBLE options floating around, none of them presently are certain, and none of them would be quite as 'big & exciting' (nor challenging) as the dublin thing, but more variations of the current theme.
if given a choice we'd rather not do it til about jnuary 2008 - but we'll soon see what our options are re. timing.
i'm sure it'd ultimately be a great experience for our kids - i just hope it (and then the likely return to australia 2-3 years later) wouldn't be too much of a stressful upheaval in addition to that (?).
any further thoughts, anyone?

we all need change but sometimes when we r offered that change we r a bit hesitatant to take it up...cos deep down somehow we fear change.
Best is to give it some time n good thought. I wish u all the best mate!
Keshi.
I would say to ask yourself if it is something that you would regret not doing?
thanx keshi & lee - good points that u both make - i appreictae your thoughts.
lee- that is something i had thought about and indeed i think that YES i/we probably would eventually regret not doing it ..... so yes, that is another very good reason to GO FOR IT!
at the end of the day, it's mostly inertia / laziness / fear of the challenge or going out of my/our comfort zone, which would keep us here ...

Change is definitely good :) And the fact that you acknowledge it and is taking progressive steps towards it... is super fabulous! Coming from someone who's notorious for country hopping, it'll probably be the best decision you've ever made, especially since you know you need it. Remember, money can always be earned but opportunities and experiences won't always be there :) Best of luck!
My parents took me and my brother to Canada for two years when we were little. They still talk about it as the best years of their lives and I think it ingrained in me that the world is big and diverse place filled with lots of different people and ideas.
